i spent a considerable length of time living and working in america (would love to imigrate one day).. almost everyone i worked with and made friends with carried a concealed firearm of somesort.

i found this pretty interesting and as an avid firearm fan even more so.. so to our american members here... .

as a jw did you or did you know any practising dubs who carried or if not had firearms for home defence?

@Happy Dad...I used to shot targets with some of them. One, who was a MS at the time, had a concealed carry permit and took it everywhere. I do believe he was "disciplined" for it, but carried up to his passing.

What immodest clothing have you got in trouble for wearing?

i personally have a very distinct sense of style and fashion which many of the fellow jdubs frown upon.

recently, i was told by a few specially self righteous ones that i looked like a prostitute in a pair of white boots!

a pair of 3 inch heeled, just a little taller than the ankle boots, with skirt that came down to my knees and a black long sleeve shirt that came up to my collarbone.

Hmmm.....I got a long ass list!

Once was told that I shouldn't be late to the Tuesday night study because of my job. So the following week, I wore a nice shirt, tie, and dockers to work so I could go straight to the meeting. I was counseled for wearing dirty shoes, and not having a jacket.

Went out in service on a very cold snowy day and was counseled for wearing a leather jacket.

I have rather large feet. VERY LARGE FEET. Was once counseled because my shoes weren't dressy enough.

I had red highlights in my glasses. Was counseled it could be considered "gay." By this time in my life I had enough. I asked the Elder, "...and you know what gay looks like because?"

My hands used to get very dirty from the manual job I used to do. An Elder once told me I shouldn't come to the meetings if my hands had paint in the fingernails.

Had a tie that had birds in it. Told they could mistaken as 'doves' and shouldn't wear it again.

Told my jacket was to 'flashy' because it had 'metallic' threads in it. Mind you, a MS had the same jacket and I informed the Elder that. He said it was ok for him because, and I quote, "He's black!"

I could go on, but my blood pressure is rising...

Were you or someone you know sexually molested by a Jehovah's Witness ?

due to the fact there are about 27,000 members of this religion that are known pedophiles, and the information about it is kept in a secret database file, i wonder how many lurking jw's as well as others are aware of the severity of this problem?

remember, it's 27,000 pedophiles that they know about.

what about the thousands that don't get caught?

FLIPPER... It was the reason my mom left the Catholic church back in the early 1980's. It was a shock to her when she learned in 2004 that someone in our neighboring congregation claimed she was molested. I remember mom trying to rationalize it to me..."Everyone knows she has mental issues....He is such a good speaker, he could never do that..." Me, in the back of my mind..."He was always a perv...." The only 'good' thing I can say is the authorities were finally notified and that scum bag was eventually jailed. Interesting to note, he wasn't disfellowshipped until AFTER he was jailed.

I personally know 7 people sexually abused. 6 of them by the Catholic church (4 were alter boys, 2 were girls.) I only know 1 who was molested while a JW. It was by her older brother, and was swept under the carpet to save the family name.

i find it extremely amusing how each year is passing without armageddon.

"for the year 2000, i visualize a world transformed into a beautiful paradise!

but i don't think that either the present world or its rulers will live to see that day.. we are living in the last days of the system of things.
